About this deal

Meet Me Under the Ombu Tree is the unforgettable, evocative, and moving tale of forgiveness and love. It follows the lives of the Solanas family living in the tumultuous years of political turmoil in Argentina. Sofia Solanas is the lead character, a proud, resourceful, wilful, spoilt daughter of Argentine nobility. She lives on an expansive ranch and has been brought up under the spiritual practices of the gauchos, and the time-honored traditions of her highborn parents. Everybody seems to love Sofia except for Anna, her Irish mother who visits her sense of inadequacy and alienation on her daughter. When Sofia gets into a steamy love affair that her mother believes would disgrace the family if it ever came out, she banishes Sofia to Europe. By sending her away, she inadvertently exiles the daughter not only from her soul mate for over a decade but also from her family. All across the USA, people are showing up dead. The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate. Food and drinks are mentioned here and there. I wanted to represent both social economic divisions so I brought a Pomegranate Martini which would appeal to the Deverill family and Scones with cream and jam for the Doyle and O'Leary families.

Daughters of Castle Deverill: Montefiore, Santa Daughters of Castle Deverill: Montefiore, Santa

The Deverill’s have lost their castle to Bridie Doyle now Countess diMarcantonio. She was the daughter of the cook at the Deverill’s castle. She is now the mistress to the castle. How did this happen? Lots of drama to come. Nobody does epic romance like Santa Montefiore. Everything she writes, she writes from the heart' Jojo Moyes When I read The Girl in the Castle I didn't know it was book one in a trilogy. That story ended well and didn't leave you hanging. Maybe one little mystery at the end but otherwise, it could have been a stand alone novel. It was quite a treat to find two more books were planned as I very much enjoyed the characters and plot. But dark shadows are gathering once more, as the financial markets start to shake. And everything that felt so certain is thrown once again into doubt. Why would I want to listen to a book when I love to read? I was pleasantly surprised. I just loved to hear the voices of this epic tale.It was a delight to hear this story with Irish accents. This book didn't grab me as much as the first two. It took me a while to get into it and I found it a bit slow at the start. Once I got going and met all the characters from the first two books the story took off. Then the last few chapters turned into mush for me. Everyone was forgiving everyone and for certain things I think would be hard to forgive. There was also a lot about God going on with this forgiveness that just annoyed me and a lot of tears.

The End of the World As We Know It - Goodreads

This novel has everything love, loss secrets and even ghosts of the past, it is the wonderful conclusion to the Deverill Chronicles. My particularly favourite character is Kitty. Strong, determined and willful she is in the center of all the exploits. Reading this novel I became in tune with Kitty and her feelings, following a young girl growing up and doing what is right for the greater good rather than for what one wants. This became heartbreaking at times but as the novel comes full circle you understand why the decisions she makes are detrimental to those around her. Somewhere in this is a life lesson.

Daughters of Castle Deverill | Book by Santa Montefiore Daughters of Castle Deverill | Book by Santa Montefiore

I just finished reading The French Gardener. What a marvelous story.I loved how you weaved the two stories together. The descriptions of the gardens and the cottage made me want to go and visit. I look forward to reading more of your stories. Reply I have a tendresse for sweeping and epic romantic sagas set around huge houses and aristocratic families and Santa Montefiore hits the spot for me like few other writers. . . . Lush, vivid storytelling." Den sista hemligheten” är lika bra som de två tidigare delarna. Författaren har ett berättarspråk som suger mig in i handlingen och jag älskar varje stund. Blandningen av längtan och sökande, kärlek och hat, sorg och förlåtelse är perfekt.

Castle Deverill, cherished home to the Deverill family in the west of Ireland for hundreds of years, has burned to the ground. But young and flighty Celia Deverill is determined to restore the sad ruin to its former glory. Celia married well and has the wealth to keep it in the family... and she cannot bear to see her beloved home stand neglected. I have a tendresse for sweeping and epic romantic sagas set around huge houses and aristocratic families and Santa Montefiore hits the spot for me like few other writers. This is the second book in her Deverill Chronicles, which follows the fortunes of Irish sisters, Kitty, Bridie and Celia, starts in 1925 and focuses on Celia's determination to restore Castle Deverill to its former glory.
