Bought this behemoth as my children keep growing, and are of still an age to love camping. This was a significant upgrade to the 4m classic bell tent we have owned and used for many years. We have used ours in all kinds of weather and it has stood up to quite severe gales when other tents (non-canvas) have perished; heavy rain and remained dry on the inside; cold nights with the aid of the heater. The quality is to the same high standard you would expect from Belltent.Co.Uk. The stitching is bang on, the cotton while not being the heaviest is a good quality and all the metal frames are solid. We also had a few heavy showers whilst away with no leaks. (canvas needs a wetting to make it water tight, or so they say).
As you can see by the pictures we married it up with our 5m Bell for an annex. This worked really well and was easy enough to do although may take a little practice to perfect. It gives you a monumental 11 meters of tent! The inside of this tent is really spacious, and with its roof heigh, it feels huge. The other one is that the mesh for the windows is on the cheap side as well. We had particular criteria to meet too and this one suited us perfectly and as the price was right we went for it.
There are roof lights or windows in the bedroom section which have zip up blinds on them so if you don't want the sunlight coming in you can very easily close them. Also, above these windows we noticed a couple of ventilation panels that in the summer will help to keep the inside of the Lavvu cool and at other times, help to prevent condensation. Waterproof and breathable - popular with glampers, campers and scout groups, the emperor tent has a polycotton mix canvas construction which as well as being waterproof, is highly breathable and ideal for reducing tent condensation.The ground sheet in this tent is fitted, except for in the front vestibule area. This part has a separate groundsheet and gives you the option as to whether you want to fit it or not. It might be nice to have a bit of grass under your feet whilst sat under your tent, or at times when the weather doesn't allow or it’s not something you would like to have, just fit the supplied ground sheet, the option is yours.
