About this deal

Three Lions on a Shirt is a beautiful, high quality coffee-table book containing an incredible collection of historic match worn England football shirts. We really liked the feel of this iron. It’s substantial in the hand without feeling too heavy, and it has a smooth action from the large soleplate. It also has a solid stand built right in, meaning you can put it down at any point with no fear of it falling over, and the big dial in the middle makes it easy to control the temperature. The cord is a little on the short side and the water tank isn’t as large as some, but this is an excellent iron with some powerful steam. A basic rule of thumb is that delicates, synthetics and silk should be ironed at low temperatures, wool on medium, and linens and cotton on high. If you don't have an iron... hang clothes in a steamy bathroom (using it as an excuse to take a long, hot shower). This won't give you the same crispness as ironing, but your clothes will be a little less crinkled than before.

Use a light starch spray 6-10 inches away from the shirt and let it soak in a minute before ironing for the smoothest results and to keep spray starch from building up on your iron’s soleplate. It's a lot more difficult to eliminate creases if your clothes are bone dry. Hanging them out in the sun or on a heater for too long will leave them stiff and almost crispy in texture, making it nearly impossible to get them wrinkle-free.

Our pick of the best steam irons for a pain-free ironing experience

Always empty the water from your iron while the iron is hot. This will reduce the moisture that remains in the water compartment. Doing this will also ensure you unplug the iron before leaving the house. If you are using a regular board, make sure both fabric layers of fabric are smoothed out before you iron over them. Use the lowest temperature setting and press down gently, being careful not to pull the stitching. How to iron linen

Why the need for heat? Certain fabrics, cotton and linen being two of them, require high heat to reform their shape. A hotter iron can cut ironing time in half, vs. one that forces you to pass and remain on the same part of the garment for 45 seconds. Also, steam production relies on the soleplate’s temperature and higher temps produce steadier steam. LIONS ON A SHIRT! JEWELS REMAIN STILL GLEAMING! NO MORE YEARS OF HURT!!! ITS COMING HOME, ITS COMING, FOOTBALLS COMING HOME????????????????????????????????????????????????? Ironing isn’t hard when you get the hang of it. You can get a shirt done in less than 5 minutes. And boom–you’re ready to take on the world. To protect it from your iron, sandwich silk between a large white sheet and a press cloth. The matte side should be facing up.To avoid pesky iron marks, you should always try to turn clothes inside out before ironing them. If you're a forward thinker, simply flip garments inside out before you wash them - this will help prevent fading, too. You should iron viscose on a medium heat while it's still damp, using a press cloth to prevent shine. Size and Weight –Size and weight do become issues for those who deal with arthritis or are sensitive to weight differences of a few pounds. Thus expensive irons made from lightweight space-age materials are not necessarily better because they cost more–they simply are being made for a different customer. So don’t always equate price with quality. If you’re looking for supplies and want quality equipment that will last decades, shop where your tailors and dry cleaners shop. North Carolina’s B&G Lieberman is a great supplier of all things tailor or cleaner-related; I called them just the other day, and their 86 year old founder still answers the phone! You’ll find anything from quality buttons to suit brushes to industrial strength steam irons through them. If you live in a hard water area, anti-calc and anti-scale features are a big plus, and many irons also have automatic cleaning systems. All this helps to prevent drips onto your clothes and, more importantly, prevents limescale build-up in your iron. It’s also worth considering the size of the water tank since the smaller it is, the more you’ll need to refill it. If you often need to do a lot of ironing in one go, look for a tank capacity of at least 300ml.
